Meeting Description
As a result of the recent Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC), several Federal agencies responsible for defending the Nation’s critical information systems and global networks have been brought to the Ft. Meade, MD area, creating a center of excellence attracting cyber engineering and operations talent. Defense contractors, large and small, are engaged in a talent war amongst themselves, as well as with the Government agencies they support, to attract and retain the technical talent to build security solutions and conduct cyber operations to defend America’s interest in the Information Age. As program managers responsible for capturing and managing these efforts, it is essential to understand and develop effective techniques for recruiting and retaining this talent.
In his keynote, Jeff Kubik, portfolio manager of Information Assurance at Praxis Engineering, will share his experience and insights into how to prepare for and win the “talent war” for the next generation of cyber warriors.
The presentation will cover the following topics:
- What distinguishes cyber engineering talent from other technical talent
- Challenges with recruiting cyber engineering professionals for national defense customers
- A PM’s role in recruiting and developing a successful recruiting strategy
- Retention strategies for sustaining the cyber talent
- Lessons learned from managing enterprise-level information assurance and cyber network defense (CND) programs
