Volunteer Director Positions

The following covers some of the opportunities available to our members for active participation. By volunteering and helping with our programming you will gain both personally and professionally. Volunteer work within PMI is rewarding and you are given the opportunity to develop project management and leadership skills apart from you regular job without the normal risks associated with paid job related responsibilities.

For our more experience members we have openings for instructors for our PMP certification classes. John Smith, PMP, our Director for certification, would be interested in hearing from you if you would like to help teach. Generally these classes are taught on the weekend and would require a minimum of four hours of work for a particular presentation. We also will need help in updating our course for the new PMBOK guide just released this year. John can give you all the particulars if you contact him at Jsmith@pmibaltimore.org.

Michelle Bruzda, PMP our Director of Publications is looking for people to submit articles for the New Letter.letterreporters. Interested individuals should write Michelle at michelle@pmibaltimore.org.

John Kos, PMP our VP for Programming is also in need of individuals to help with the programming at each of our operating locations in Baltimore, Elkridge, Annapolis, Timonium and perhaps Columbia. We feel that we can support meeting events anywhere within our operating area where three or more individuals are willing to team up to support a location. Each location requires a Lead Director, a Director for Logistics and a Director for Finance. Each of their responsibilities is outlined below.

Lead Director. Each Lead Director for a given meeting location is responsible to the VP Programs for the execution of programming at an assigned location. Each director is responsible for the management of their area team and:

  • Meeting Introductions & Procedures
  • Introduce the speaker (Bio) and the topic for the Meeting.
  • Accountable for the meeting logistics (insure that we have at least one other Director to collect money for meals and act as backup for Director of Logistics)
  • Greet members during networking sessions.

Director of Logistics. The Director of Logistics will support their respective Lead Director in the setup of meeting locations and are responsible to:

  • Insure that the IT logistics are operational (projector and laptop are operational prior to the meeting with the speaker)
  • Address any issues with the restaurant staff on last minute decisions.
  • Act as a backup for Director of the subchapter and identify a backup member for their position

Director of Finance. The Director of Finance for each operating location is responsible to the chapter’s VP of Finance and will support their respective Lead Director in fulfilling financial related tasks for meetings. Directors of Finance are responsible to:

  • Print nametags and receipt and attendance list.
  • Distribute Surveys and collect at the end of the meeting.
  • Collect Members Meal Money
  • Issue nametags and receipt for meals
  • Accurate account for monies collected, attendance, and deposit money in account.
  • Fax details of meeting to VP of Finance & VP of Programs. Attendance, deposit information.
