President’s Message

January 2010

I am honored to represent the Baltimore Chapter for PMI as President for the next 2 years. Often recognized as the “email guy,” for the last 4 years, I have served on the PMI Baltimore Chapter Board of Directors as VP – Communications for two years and most recently VP - Programs. During my tenure, I have gained a first-rate understanding of the Chapter Strategic and Operational responsibilities. I worked closely with John Kos in order to comprehend the specific responsibilities associated with the position as it relates to Chapter planning, coordination, and implementation of processes to promote a strong, robust, and successful Chapter. The experience on the Board has helped in understanding the importance in maintaining a strong Chapter in following the guidelines and associated standards as directed by PMI GOC.

It is my objective to continue to support the growth of the Chapter based on the direction which prior Presidents have implemented and followed through with. My vision over the next 2 years is as follows:

  1. Improve the Chapter Web Site by implementing appropriate interactive technology to our membership for 2010 and beyond
  2. Continue the mechanization development effort which John Kos imitated by introducing technology which will allow membership a Baltimore Chapter ID card for easy access to Chapter events, Seminars, and other Chapter sponsored activities. This will allow electronic PDU submission by the Chapter, not its membership.
  3. Broaden our Chapter’s ability to leverage the Project Management knowledge by increasing Seminars, Education Events, and Career Night activities.
  4. Improve the internal processes to support the Chapter growth for 2010 and beyond.

I also will continue with the Leadership Development Plan and support recruiting to potential Chapter Leaders via the PMI Leadership Programs, Conferences, and continue to be the building block for future program managers.

It is my pleasure to serve the Chapter for the next 2 years.

Eric Perlstein, PMP, RMP
President
PMI Baltimore Chapter
2010–2011
