| President's Message: January 2008 | |||||
|
Dear PMI Baltimore Chapter Members, This will be an exciting year for the Baltimore Chapter as we have expanded our programming to a two year view both for the lunch and dinner meetings, as well as our seminars. Our seminars will be on Earned Value scheduled for February 18, and October 13, 2008 and we have a special treat in the Fall with a Risk Seminar by Carl Pritchard. Our educational program for PMP Prep Exam has been expanded to three sessions this year, January 19, April 12, and September 12, 2008. This course will cover all phases and knowledge areas of the PMI PMBOK and assist in your preparation to pass the PMP Certification class. This class well be held at Alcatel-Lucent, 225 Schilling Circle, Hunt Valley, Maryland. You can contact Peter Kos or me on 908-202-0303 or 410-274-8239, respectively. The crowning event of the year will be the PMI Region 5, 2008 Symposium at Marriott Inn and Conference at UMUC in College Park, MD during April 2 - 5, 2008. You will have the opportunity to earn up to 32 PDUs during the four days with instructors like Carl Pritchard and courses on how to obtain your PgMP, just to highlight one. During the Symposium, we have 40 speaker and 6 keynotes, two from the industry, two from the Federal Government, a guest speaker from PMI, and Carl Pritchard. We even have a career night, so visit http://www.pmiregion5.org for additional details. I want to personally thank all the volunteers that are working hard to make this symposium a success and hope to see you all there. I would be remiss if I did not thank Bob Wallace, the outgoing President for his contribution to the chapter over the last two years. Under his leadership we were selected to host the PMI Region 5, 2008 Symposium, and instituted the chapter direct involvement in PMP Prep Exam course, just to mention a few of his initiatives. Bob continues his involvement and dedication to the chapter as the new VP of Finance. We are looking for volunteers to support these teams as I have already mentioned. You can earn 10 PDUs per year to support this effort. In other words, you can earn 10 PDUs up to December 31, 2008 and an additional 10 PDUs beginning January 1, 2008 up until the event. If you are interested in supporting this effort, please contact me (jkos@pmibaltimore.org) or Eric Perlstein (eric@pmibaltimore.org) via email with your level of interest. | |||||
